Le Sancerre - Paris Nightlife

Engagingly old-fashioned, with an agreeable staff and food prepared fresh every day, this wine bar specializes in vintages from the Loire Valley and Sancerre. The latter, produced in red, rosé, and white, is known for its not-too-dry fruity aroma and legions of fans who believe it should be more celebrated. Other wine choices include chinon and saumur wine (both from the Loire Valley), as well as pinot de Bourgogne (from Burgundy), gamay (from the Ardèche Valley in France's southwest), and chenas (from the Beaujolais). Food items usually include andouillettes (chitterling sausages), omelets with flap mushrooms, fresh oysters, and quiche. Glasses of wine cost 3.10€ to 5.20€ ($4.05-$6.75); simple platters of food cost 8.50€ to 14€ ($11-$18) each. Open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm and 6:30 to 11pm; Saturday 8:30am to 4pm.
