Designed to recall France's 19th-century colonies in Asia or a bordello in 1930s Shanghai (on the ground floor) and England's empire-building zeal in India (upstairs), the China Club lets you chitchat or flirt with the singles who crowd into the street-level bar, and then escape to calmer, more contemplative surroundings upstairs. You'll see regulars from the worlds of fashion and the arts, along with postshow celebrants from the nearby Opéra Bastille. A street-level Chinese restaurant serves dinner daily from 7pm to 2am; in the more animated cellar bar, live music prevails Thursday and Saturday from 10pm to 1am.
